There are so many roulette scams appeared lately. Sometimes it is difficult to differ new means from the new variations of the old ones.

Wheel Tampering

Before gambling became legal many “volunteers” did a lot to impact the game’s outcome. They tampered the roulette wheel the way they wanted. Some even broke into the casinos to “correct” the wheel by loosening it. They also loosened the frets, so that during the spin the ball would bounce that much.

Some devisers even put thin layers of lead in some pockets to stop the ball in them. Or if they did not want the ball to stay in the pocket, they put some elastic material. All these appliances were to create the effect of a biased wheel.

Magnetizing Jackpot

Another illegal way to win is as old as world - magnets. They put one magnet inside the table and the other one into the ball. But here come the obstacles. They need to have somebody, working for the casino, for assistance. It would be “a bit” strange, if you ask the dealer to wait and you’d go under the table to do your dirty trick and replace the ball.

Padding

If you cannot influence the ball mentally, you can do it physically. If you cannot make the ball do what you want, you can “pad” it and it will land in the desired pocket. But it is way more stuff to do. It is a prerogative of the roulette manufacturers. They can use different materials for making the pockets. For example, if you need the ball to stick in some pockets, you can make a bottom of the pocket of softer wood or metal, and vice versa.

Ball Control

Some dealers with many years' experience say that they can predetermine approximate numbers, where the ball would land. As they have spinned the roulette wheel million times, they can know few possible number, within which the ball will stop. This is not proven yet, so you can find “your” dealer.

Sector Targeting

Less exact but more profitable way to win some chips is sector targeting. An electronic device is used for determining the sector, where the ball will land. It reminds roulette shoe scam but is much improved. The largest amount of money, which was ever won using such device, was in Great Britain. One night and $1,700,000 were taken home. The players were so lucky because the British law did not prohibit this cheating means.
